About Clinical ColleaguesBACKGROUND AND HISTORYClinical Colleagues represents the coming together of professionals who have a history of mutual esteem as well as a commitment to practice management fairness and excellence. Paul Gerdes and Kurt Zumwalt, Managing Partners, and Chuck Trentham MD and Mark Carlson, MD, Regional Medical Officers, have lengthy backgrounds in the development and management of hospital-based practices as does Jane Whalen, Business Administrator. We are colleagues who enjoy working together to meet the needs of clients and practitioners. MEDICAL LEADERSHIP AND ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORTAs physicians who are board certified in anesthesia, Chuck Trentham, MD and Mark Carlson, MD, enjoy impeccable reputations in the medical community. Both physicians have extensive experience both clinically and in positions of leadership for different levels of surgical volume and demographics and various types of anesthesia staffing models. Doctors Trentham and Carlson provide strong physician leadership as they serve as Regional Medical Officers, providing the medical conscience for Clinical Colleagues. Jane Whalen was a Regional Operations Vice President for an Emergency Medicine practice management company when she decided to leave the corporate environment to work for a smaller, more "hands-on" organization - which she has now found with Clinical Colleagues. Mark, Chuck and Jane recognize and value the integrity of the Clinical Colleagues organization. GOVERNANCE/DECISION MAKINGMajor decisions for Clinical Colleagues are the responsibility of the Managing Partners and Regional Medical Officers. The Managing Partners communicate on a daily basis to review the status of Clinical Colleague contract services and utilize their years of physician practice and business experience to reach agreement on operating decisions. Clinical and medical practice issues and their related decisions are reviewed with the Regional Medical Officers. Clinical Colleagues believes that a "flat" organizational structure is beneficial to clients because decisions are made quickly by the people who have the ultimate responsibility to achieve practice management success.
